Spain, Rwanda, Czech Republic, South Korea, Norway, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, India, Italy, Poland and France: from the four corners of the world, these twelve publishing houses are bearers of a teeming and stimulating cultural diversity.

Diversity of artistic, graphic and literary creation, diversity of views on childhood, diversity of languages ​​used. So many bridges to the other and elsewhere; for children and their loved ones, an unprecedented and tremendously rich opening, the opportunity to weave sensitive and lasting links with other cultures.

A buen paso

In Couëron, the Spanish and Catalan publishing house A Buen Paso was adopted by librarians. By considering the publication of works for young people as a social responsibility, A Buen Paso sees the book and reading as a means of taking a good step towards others, nature, and oneself thanks to image and words. Initially, the project is aimed at a school audience with bilingual readings, playful approaches to the Spanish language and the intervention of Paul Parant, a visual artist who stimulates the imagination of the students by drawing inspiration from the works of Isidro Ferrer , to create insect objects. In March 2023, the media library will offer a highlight around Spain which will allow students to reveal their creations to the public.

Bakame

The Tissé Métisse Documentary Fund specializes in the social sciences and more particularly on contemporary immigration and migration in Nantes and throughout the country. It also deals with multiple intercultural and linguistic approaches. By joining the eye of the world, the Tissé Métisse Documentary Fund wishes to enlarge this door to the world that it already is, by nature and by commitment. Thanks to the partnership with Rwandan Editions Bakamé, the collections are enriched with a new language supported by actions that will allow young audiences to read, hear and experience cultural diversity.

Baobab

Brought together in an Intercommunal Library Network (RIB), the libraries offer a wide choice of documents and offer numerous services. Installed in the heart of each municipality, they are essential municipal facilities for local cultural life. The Océan-Marais de Monts library network has adopted Baobab editions and offers numerous workshops, meetings, readings and events around Czech culture.

J’aimimage

From September 2022 to May 2023, the South Korean publishing house Jaimimage will be honored by the Municipal Library of Nantes, in the 8 media libraries and libraries of the network: vocalization and setting to music of albums, workshops of plastic creation led by artists, exhibition on the work of publishing the album Le voyage de Moungchi. A broader program will also invite the public to discover South Korea today, in partnership with Korean Spring.

Magikon

Located approximately 35 km north of Nantes in Loire-Atlantique, the Nozay intercommunal network of media libraries and media libraries offers the 16,000 inhabitants of its territory 2 media libraries – Tournepage Media Library in Nozay, Le Château Media Library in Saffré – and 5 local libraries in Abbaretz, La Grigonnais, Puceul, Treffieux and Vay. MeMo

Located in the hall of the unique place, the reading room is a free space where everyone can come and read the works on offer. Several thousand books (mainly short forms, illustrated books, catalogs), which can be consulted on site, are made available to everyone: regulars of the unique place, Sunday strollers, travelers in transit, families… Designed since its inauguration in early 2020 as a field for experimenting with new forms of writing and original ways of reading, the show offers year-round cycles of workshops, readings and meetings for everyone and in connection with the exhibitions, festivals and shows scheduled at the unique venue.

One stroke

In the Community of Communes Loué Brûlon Noyen, the intercommunal library of Loué, the media library of Noyen-sur-Sarthe and the leisure centers of Coulans-sur-Gée, Loué and Noyen-sur-Sarthe have adopted One Stroke, home of edition created by Japanese author Katsumi Komagata. Throughout the year 2022-2023, through activities during school or leisure time, children will discover the astonishing books of Komagata, marked by work around paper, shapes and colors and by a sensitive relationship with nature and living things. With the support of Sarthe Lecture (departmental library) and the SDJES de la Sarthe, workshops, meetings and shows accompany this discovery of the work of the author-publisher, and more broadly of the arts and culture of Japan .

Petra Ediciones

The public reading network of Pays de Craon (19 libraries) and its 3 media libraries in Cossé-le-Vivien, Craon and Renazé wanted to highlight the Mexican publishing house Petra Ediciones. On the program, a highlight in November with exhibitions around the publisher, the country or a resident tattoo artist, tales from Mexico by the Cie Samouraï des Bois and visits by author-illustrators to schools (6 classes) Ianna Andreadis and Amandine Momenceau.

Planeta Tangerina

The Erdre & Gesvres community of communes and the 5 libraries of Grandchamp-des-Fontaines, Nort-sur-Erdre, Petit-Mars, Sucé-sur-Erdre and Treillières have adopted the Portuguese publisher Planeta Tangerina. Exhibitions, workshops, cinema, meetings, class receptions will punctuate the 2022-23 season around albums and more broadly Portugal. From March 30 to April 2, 2023, the 19th Children’s Book Fair – “From one world to another” – will welcome Isabel Minhos Martins and Madalena Matoso from Planeta Tangerina.

Tara Books

The municipal libraries of Angers fell in love with the artisanal books from the publisher Tara Books: creation of a fresco, discovery of books, stories, afternoon of “Bollywood” screenings. The Angers libraries highlighted Indian culture and acquired 110 books in English from the publishing house Tara Books.

Topipittori

The Diderot Media Library is open freely to the public of all ages. Located in the Château district, it offers different spaces dedicated to reading, leisure and study. Opened in 1991 in an old renovated church, it offers a collection of more than 100,000 documents. The media library offers regular cultural programming and pursues an active policy of partnership with cultural and social associations and institutions.

Wytwornia

Located on the 1st floor of the School of Fine Arts, on the Island of Nantes, this specialized library is open to all. An essential tool for artistic education and cultural dissemination, the library offers one of the largest collections specialized in visual arts in Pays de la Loire. It also offers a collection of children’s and art books, the Calder collection: illustrated books, object books, pop-up books, education and art history books. They support numerous workshops aimed at young audiences. The library is part of the artistic and cultural center of the school of fine arts which offers a range of artistic proposals: exhibitions, practical workshops, events, conferences, art library.

The Saint-Nazaire media library is a municipal structure located in the heart of its territory with a city center media library, a neighborhood library with a digital space, a bookmobile and a beach library.
