On April 23, the first and only edition of the Eye of the World ended in Nantes. For four weeks, more than 11,000 people came to the Lieu Unique to discover a unique exhibition, a reading space, workshop and exhibition space designed for visitors and in particular for children, a space of freedom dreamed up by the Eye of the World association and designed by Claudie Robet which came to life for a month. A place where, as we were told: “there is always something to do”.
In line with the workshops imagined by artists such as Bruno Munari or Katsumi Komagata, and in the spirit of learning through play and experimentation in Kindergarten, the eye of the world wishes to promote a playful and open approach to creation, an approach motivated by curiosity and the desire to express oneself.
In our workshops, there is neither master (to copy), nor student. The artist provides tools and techniques, then he supports each child in their reflection, in their desires, while encouraging autonomy through experimentation and doing.
Our workshops are led by artists who care and want to share this spirit allowing the child-reader to become a child-creator. The child then discovers the position of the artist creating for the book and the joy of sharing which ensues through this object which passes from hand to hand and which travels… from country to country, like the eye of the world.
